A bit about me

Ever since I was little, I’ve had a passion for reading. I was filled with excitement every time my mom took me and my younger brother to the library, and let us pick out as many books as we wanted. During free time at school, in the car, or at home—you could always find my nose in some sort of novel!

When I was in late elementary school, I began writing about my brother's soccer games in my journal, just to keep myself from getting bored in the crowd. Though I did not take it very seriously, this amateur reporting soon sparked my love for storytelling. With the guidance of my wonderful middle and high school English teachers, my writing skills blossomed over the years, ultimately inspiring me to pursue a career in journalism.

While attending the University of Virginia, I interned at several local media outlets, including Ivy Publications, Charlottesville Tomorrow, and the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service. I also had the privilege of studying abroad in Lyon, France, for an entire semester. Though I'm still working on becoming fluent, being fully immersed in the French language and culture was an enriching, unforgettable experience.

Outside of my studies, I served as a peer advisor for the Office of African American Affairs, providing critical resources and support to Black first-year students as they acclimated to university life. I was also a University Dance Club member and choreographer, a Life columnist and copyeditor for The Cavalier Daily, and a volunteer at several local schools. And during my fourth year, I played an instrumental role in forming UVA's first-ever National Association of Black Journalists chapter.

In 2019, I graduated with a B.A. in Media Studies and American Studies, as well as a minor in French. After serving as C-VILLE Weekly's lead news reporter for nearly four years, I joined UVA's Miller Center of Public Affairs in 2023. I currently serve as the Center's Communications Strategist, spearheading a variety of internal and external communications promoting our scholars, endeavors, and achievements.

When I'm not working, I love dancing in my room, going on Twitter (I refuse to call it "X"!) too much, listening to scary story podcasts, watching my favorite YouTubers, enjoying a good TV show, getting lost in a novel, going out with friends, and trying *not* to drink iced mochas everyday. Oh, and playing with my adorable cat, Mahogany!
