'Disappointed, but not surprised'

The podcast

Before I was hired at the Weldon Cooper Center, I was required to create a demo project. I chose to write an article and create a podcast about the recent acts of racism at the University of Virginia and in the state of Virginia, including racist graffiti on Beta Bridge, cultural appropriation at Greek events, and Governor Ralph Northam's blackface scandal. After conducting student outreach, I interviewed four UVA students of color, who shared their thoughts on the racist incidents and their experiences as a minority at a predominantly white university.

Drawing from the interviews, I created an original podcast and wrote an engaging article. Putting the podcast together proved to be a significant challenge—I had little experience using Adobe Audition before this project! But with the help of a few online tutorials, I taught myself how to use Audition, and completed the project entirely on my own.

Thank you again to Courtney Baugh, Deanna Lewis, Emily Garcia, and Aaron Entzminger for participating in my project. I could not have done it without you!
